The Opening
As a Managing Director across major global financial institutions in Sydney, London, and across multiple international jurisdictions I spent two decades at the intersection of high performance and high pressure. Board director, leader of skilled professionals and enterprise-wide thought leadership across some of the most complex organisations in the world.
I know what it feels like to carry the weight of a senior role. The asymmetry of information. The navigation of politics in creating lasting change. The gap between the leader the institution needs and the person who shows up at home. The question quietly persistent beneath everything of whether this is the life that was actually cultivated.
That lived experience is the foundation of the practice. Not as a credential to reference, but as a genuine understanding of the world the people I work with inhabit.

Why The Cultivated Life.
I left institutional life to build something I didn't find accessible in my development efforts a coaching practice that takes both performance and the whole person collectively. That goes to the roots rather than addressing the surface. That understands the world senior leaders actually inhabit rather than observing it from the outside.
The Cultivated Life works at the intersection of rigorous performance coaching and genuine depth exploring not just what you're navigating but what is operating beneath it. The patterns of thinking. The identity questions. The relationships. The energy. The life, across all its dimensions, not just the professional one.
A life is not optimised. It is cultivated. That's the founding conviction of everything here.
Formation
The formation behind the practice.
Building the clinical and professional foundation to do this work properly and with rigour:
- ◆Harvard Executive Leadership Coaching Certificate in progress, 2026
- ◆Hogan Assessment Suite accreditation in progress
- ◆A finance background spanning professional qualifications in accounting and financial planning, and business advisory work with small and medium enterprises
- ◆Sustained independent study across psychodynamic coaching, adult development, performance neuroscience, and narrative coaching
Credentials will be updated as programmes are completed. The practice is in active development and the rigour of that development is part of what the work offers.

Who Denis is.
I work with a small number of clients at any one time which means every engagement receives genuine attention rather than a managed process. I respond personally to every message. I remember what matters to you between sessions. I bring the full weight of my experience to every conversation, rather than a framework applied from the outside.
I'm based between Sydney and London, which means I work with clients across Australia, the UK, Europe, and internationally in person where possible, and online where not.
The work I do with clients is the same work I continue to do for myself. This is my ongoing commitment.
